This activity program is designed for people who want to meet the World Health Organisation's (WHO) physical activity guidelines for adults aged 18-64 through structured exercise.
Key Benefits
While there are many ways being active that are consistent with the WHO guidelines, this program is specifically designed to aid you to:
- Develop increased levels of cardiovascular fitness and strength.
- Learn how to assess and adjust exercise intensity to achieve the desired adaptations.
- Develop or improve your ability to perform a 5km run.
- Learn how to complete basic strength exercises such as the Barbell High Bar Back Squat, Bench Press, Deadlift, Overhead Press, and Pull Up.
Prerequisite Function
To start this program a baseline level of function is required, including the ability to:
- Perform repeated sit to stands
- Perform repeated wall pushups
- Walk continuously for 35 minutes
- Be active on 5 days a week
Equipment Required
Equipment required includes:
- Comfortable exercise appropriate clothing and footwear
- Bench and Squat Rack
- Barbell, Weight Plates, Collars
- Dumbbells (fixed weights or adjustable)
- Resistance Bands
